Meet The EXECUTIVE Team

Rachel A. (Partner & Chief Hardware Engineer)

Rachel is our resident expert on all things mechanical. Rachel excels at Computer Aided Design (CAD), prototyping and rapid iteration. She brings concepts to life with Computer-Aided Machining (CAM) for our in-house Computer Numeric Control (CNC) mill and ensures parts are made to spec.

In addition to design, Rachel excels at sourcing parts from vendors and managing supply chains to deliver what’s needed. Beyond the mechanical realm, Rachel is well-versed in electronics design and fabrication, digital and physical security, and chemistry.

Some of Rachel’s past work has ranged from programming GPS tracking systems, to developing optical testing equipment for a LIDAR navigation system, to building an X-ray pedicle drill. Rachel also designed and built a custom CNC machine specifically to wind carbon fibre trusses. Rachel also enjoys science education, and builds dozens of demonstrations for students. As with all Entropic team members, Rachel has a broad knowledge of all things scientific, and quickly learns and adapts to new fields.

Since joining the team at Entropic, Rachel’s expertise in designing and building robotics components greatly facilitated our ability to design, manufacture, and deliver a custom robotics connector for a client in 37 days, after the client struggled for 18 months to develop it in-house. Rachel’s ability to strategically source component parts and incorporate them into components for evaluation enabled Entropic to deliver success quickly and efficiently. Rachel’s experience with supply chains allowed us to incorporate custom sub-components that we were unable to produce in-house.

M Pang. (Partner & CTO)

Matthew enhances our team primarily with their expertise in chemical engineering and electronics. Their deep knowledge of material science ensures we understand the complexities of material interactions, and select the best substance for an application.

Matthew’s experience designing, building, and manufacturing sophisticated electronics enables Entropic to either source or create the electronics package most suitable to the circumstances. Their understanding of electronics is also invaluable when developing and debugging embedded systems. Matthew also enriches Entropic with business leadership, an extensive network of professional contacts, and experience working closely with vendors providing specialized services. Matthew is also multilingual and speaks 5 different languages.

Prior to Entropic Engineering, Matthew worked to develop and commercialize a polymer-based carbon nanotube sensor. This included designing and characterizing the polymer to suit the application, devising manufacturing methods with the polymer, and developing the flexible electrodes required to utilize the sensor. Matthew also designed and built custom test equipment for this process, including a high-performance signal processing system. They have also researched the rheology of nanofluids, built custom electronics for highly resource-constrained systems, and performed physical security analysis of integrated circuits.

With Entropic Engineering, Matthew has architected and designed a computational platform for the next-generation of medical simulation robotics. Based on a high-level vision presented by the client, Matthew created a common computational architecture to enable maximal data transfer between components. Additionally, they designed the first two boards to leverage this architecture: a highly-capable developer’s kit, and a cutting-edge smart networking and power controller, serving as the ‘brains’ of the platform. Because of Matthew’s expertise in vendor relations, Entropic was able to deliver the first working prototype of custom electronics hardware in fewer than 90 days, despite a major natural disaster, as well as market instability from newly-imposed import tariffs.

Kai P. (Partner & COO)

As the force binding the team together, Kai maintains our standards of success by directing communications, monitoring project resources, and ensuring deliverables are captured and complete.

Their expertise enables our projects to progress efficiently, meeting schedule and budget constraints, or addressing complications as soon as they’re identified. Kai also monitors compliance, both regulatory and contractual, and controls documentation, both technical and administrative. Beyond project management, Kai helps our team maintain its culture, enabling all of us to better create the world in which we want to live.

Serving as a central point of contact, Kai monitors project status, addressing roadblocks, tracking resource consumption, and communicating client concerns. They actively maintain channels of communication, ensuring information is exchanged quickly and efficiently. Kai not only schedules meetings and sends emails, but also excels by reaching out to individual team members to ensure clarity of understanding amongst the team. This common understanding is a critical component to Entropic Engineering’s quality and efficiency.

Kai’s contributions to our team’s success are many. Their experience understanding and communicating financial trends and insight enables us to leverage great value from limited materials. Their organizational skills and attention to detail ensures our team is easily able to understand what assets we have available, how to access them, and what we need to do with them. Perhaps most importantly, Kai’s empathy and enthusiasm helps facilitate the high standards of respect, equity, and inclusivity that we adhere to, as individuals, and as Entropic Engineering.
